Brynlee

This is Brynlee.
She is 2 1/2 years old. She loves to laugh, play with her parents, smile, giggle and wear pretty clothes, just like any pretty little girl.
Brynlee has SMA. Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is a motor neuron disease, affecting muscles that control crawling, walking, head movement and neck movement and swallowing. This means that Brynlee, though perfect in every other way, is unable to walk and is a miracle at her age.
Children with SMA are not expected to live past two years old. In fact, SMA is the NUMBER ONE cause of death for children under two. 1 in 6000 babies born are affected by SMA and 1 in 40 people are carriers for it.
Brynlee was diagnosed at five months old and her parents were devastated. However, they chose to fight this horrible thing as much as they could to help their baby live as normal a life as she can. Brynlee can't eat on her own. She is fed through a tube and uses a mechanical wheelchair to get around. To tell you the truth? She can't really tell much of a difference. She is happy and as you can see, just a gorgeous little girl! I don't know Brynlee personally but she is pretty much the granddaughter of one of my coworkers.
If you want to help fight SMA please click on the icon I have on my blog. Vote for her cause through Pepsi Ideas and the SMA fund could win $250,000 - that's 250,000 times closer to finding a cure and saving our kids!
Please click and vote. You are allowed one vote a day so get clicking!!!
